After being cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus, Le Mans Classic is making its grand return this year, from June 30 to July 3 on the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. This 10th edition marks the 20th anniversary of this event, which highlights the rich history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
An unmissable event for two decades
Created in 2002 by the agency specializing in the organization of automotive events Peter Auto, in partnership with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), Le Mans Classic is the largest gathering of vintage cars, on the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. It takes place every two years, on the first weekend of July.
For two days, the famous Sarthe circuit welcomes a large number of racing and collector cars, for a competition paying tribute to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. An opportunity for these old cars to repeat their feat or take revenge on past editions.
20 years celebrated over four days
For this 2022 edition which celebrates the 20th anniversary of Le Mans Classic, the organizers have seen things on a grand scale, with a circuit open to the public for four days instead of the usual two.
Thus, from this Thursday afternoon, the 200,000 spectators expected will be able to attend entertainment and exhibitions but also the arrival of the competitors on the circuit. The first qualifying trials will take place all day Friday and the race will start on Saturday at 10am, for an awards ceremony this Sunday.
Nearly 750 racing cars will be present on the track, including famous models such as the Bentley Speed 8 (2003), the Porsche 917k (1970) and the Ferrari 312P (1969)...
